Instant Details box blank, empty: solved by Preferences

After updating from 7.4 to 9.1 in OS 10.6.5 (Snow Leopard), my Instant Details box showed this behavior:

 

* It was blank, even when I moused over tagged original-language texts, except

* The Command key correctly brought up information from the dictionary.

 

I first tried restarting (although I had restarted after the upgrade): this did not solve the problem.

 

I then tried using the Font Fixer utility: this did not solve the problem.

 

I finally went to Preferences > Instant Details. For some reason, by default (I believe), ALL of the boxes under "Greek and Hebrew" were UNCHECKED. I checked the appropriate boxes, and the problem was solved.

 

I'm posting here in case this proves helpful to other users.
