Accordance iOS app & Installation Inquiry

Thanks in advance for any assistance with this inquiry. I'm curious how the Accordance iOS app might function in this regard: My wife and I plan to potentially share an iPad between two desktop computers (i.e., syncing, etc.), one a PC, the other a Mac. Upon the initial release and install of this app, would previously purchased Accordance modules be download from the internet directly to the iPad, or would it be required that these be installed instead directly via the Mac or PC, and if that's the case, should this shared environment between the two desktops present any difficulties?

Thanks once again!

Blessings,

Robert

Robert,

It'll be best when/if you hear from someone who works at Accordance, but I was able to play with the beta version at SBL. But I have a couple comments regarding your questions.

For starters, you will be able to download most of your modules directly from the internet connection. So, you'll be fine to download content. If all your Accordance purchases are under one user registration, then they'll all be there (you may have to correspond with OakTree to get your records up to date.)

But as for "shar[ing] and iPad between two desktop computers"...

I don't think that Accordance is going to use the iTunes connection to sync the iOS app with the desktop app. This is what they were saying at SBL. Rather, both apps will have to be open on the same wifi connection. So, in that instance, it won't matter if you actually sync your apps and music and contacts with the Mac or the PC, or a mix of both.

Having said that, not all details are worked out, I suspect. It's the syncing methodology that is the last thing implemented and perfected before the iOS Accordance app gets released.

Thanks so much for your reply and thoughts on this inquiry Joe, I'll also look to verify with Accordance staff, as you suggest.

Wow, I could have used the app yesterday. I had to use a different app (on my iPad) to read the Bible but did not have the resources of Accordance to study the text - 10 hours of hospital visit and got little done. But if I had the app... ;)

We have been told that it will most likely come out before Christmas - I'm counting on it because I need it for my course next month! Either take a huge notebook or simply take my ipad?

O please o please, grant to us our Accordance app!

Everyone involved is doing their best to get it out ASAP. Programming is about done, but there are those pesky bugs that seem to appear from nowhere...

I can hardly wait to have it, I love my Olivetree reader, but I will have so many more resources when Accordance is available. Logos is a a nice idea but it;s app has always been and still is nearly useless. I just love having them go on how they can't possibly make our files available to us on the iOS because it's not powerful enough and the have no rights to make a reader that will allow us to read our files on a different platform (funny enough there was no issue with the mac platform). I don't mean to bad mouth or complain excessively about a competitor, I just want to thank you for making a proper application. I have no hopes for it to be an exact clone of 9.1's abilities; just a good functional reader.

So once again, premature as it maybe I thank you for making this and for not trying to make a half hearted attempt and say look we have it even though you can't use what you want and you have to access or download everything off our servers.

I too use Olivetree and Logos on my ipad and ipod touch but I can't read Greek and Hebrew on those programs (along with all my other files I purchased through accordance). I don't want to repurchase the same items in Olivetree and Logos. Nothing against the competitors; they serve their purposes but Accordance offers far more to mac users (and hopefully to the iOS world). Looking forward to the new app. This app will help to convert other people looking to get Bible programs for their computers and ipads (iphones).

Now I have to stop checking this site ten times a day - I just have to be patient! I guess this wait is akin to my son's desperate plea for an xbox 360. Maybe that will be my bargaining chip? "If daddy gets his Accordance app for his ipad, you will get your xbox 360!" Kind of self serving, eh?

This app is going to be wild! The fan base is already rabid :D with anticipation. Our imaginations are swelling with the amazing ways it will delight us.

It may turn a motley assortment of scholars into an army of Accordance evangelists!
