Miss Keene
Hi, I'd like texts and various tools to default to alphabetical order when I open them via Amplify, right click, or from the Resource Palette. I'm sure there is some logic to how they appear now, but I haven't figured it out. It doesn't seem to be related to my frequency of use; for example, "JPS" always appears at the top of my text list, though I use it less than say, ESV which I have as default. I used to have JPS as default, however. I can't find a setting in Preferences or any other menus, or help. Have listened to a number of podcasts since there is NO MANUAL for vs 9 (shameless plug; when I purchased in Nov. I was told it was "online" which hasn't yet been the case.) Today I had little time to study a few passages, and it seemed I spent most of that time reading and re-reading my reference lists to eventually find, for example, "Parables and Miracles" which is the last item in the fabulously populated, "All General" in a list that begins with "w" then starts at "A" a few items later until it runs to the end of the alphabet, then begins at "A" again, as if there are three alphabetized lists in one. Perhaps they are grouped, and since I'm not familiar yet with many of these General refs, I don't even know what I'm looking at. So, to rephrase, how do I cause the following tools to always appear alphabetically: English Tools Reference Tools General Tools Bible Texts Thanks very much, I hope to be at a level to contribute soon ; )
John Fidel
Hi Miss Keene, If you open your library then the section you want alphabetized and either right or ctrl click and select alphabetize and finally click update you should be good to go. The order in the library is the order you get in the resource palette. I hope this answers your question.
Joel Brown
I also recommend taking some time and perhaps arranging them how you want. For me, I've put my most common items near the top, then categorized the other tools into sub folders with dividers. Dr. J's podcast on the Library window is great at showing how to tweak it just as you like, and it gives a variety of examples. The built-in help, under the Help menu ('Accordance Help') covers the entire program. It lists all the changes in 9, though some of the examples have not been updated, as we are working on a revamp of the help. However, things like the Library window and Resource Palette did not significantly change in v9.

But at first, I clicked the icon for various tools, and alphabetize was grayed out in the resulting popup menu; the only items not grayed out (i.e. not available) were copy picture, and print. So then I opened a workspace, selected text, etc. Finally, I clicked an item in the actual library list itself; for example, reference tools, Henry's. Then when I right clicked all the popup menu items were available, including alphabetize. Thanks so very much, whew that was easy.

Since this my first vers. of Accordance, it's hard for me to know what vers 8 Help applies, so thanks for the tip. Will watch Library window podcast again; some of the basic podcasts were over my head in the beginning, as I didn't even know what the names of the various windows and menus were. I bought Accordance pretty much on the fly with a brief in-person demo, never having heard or seen of it before. I figured the "online manual" would tell me most of what I needed. I'm making headway each day. The podcasts are helpful, (though some are still for vers 8, which confuses me) but there are still things I miss either in the p-cast or help; so this forum fills a big gap. The important thing with all software is to try right click on everything; that's often where the best features show up, imho. Accordance is a God-send, as I live a sort of nomadic life, and no longer move piles of books with me and good library access more limited than I'm used to. Thanks.
