Kevin Sigafoos
Jerry Rankin just said at the Desiring God Pastor's conference that the first command spoken to Jesus (after the command to "come, follow me") is to "look" (referring to "look to the fields" that are ripe unto harvest). If I wanted to search the Synoptics for the first five imperatives spoken by Jesus, how would I build this in Accordance? Thanks for the help. jpkang
Hm... sounds like he's not referring to the Greek. In the first place, "Come" [Gk. δεῦρο] is an interjection, not an imperative (cf. Heb. הב). Searching the GNT-T for [VERB imperative] <AND> [RANGE Matt-Luke] yields all the imperatives, and you can do the counting. There are plenty of other imperatives spoken by Jesus that appear before the "Come, follow me" phrase in the Synoptics. Perhaps we need more context to understand Rankin's claim?
