Joshua
I have been using Accordance for a while but I have not been able to find out how to view two diffferent texts side by side. Say I want to compare the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5:3-11 and Luke 6:20-26. Other than having to switch between screens I have not found out how I can add a new pane and view a different text. Is there a way to do this? Thank You for your help Joshua
Helen Brown
The parallel modules do exactly this. There are three arrangements of the Gospels, one of the OT, one OT in NT quotes, and one of Epistles. The parallel scrolls icon on the resource palette lets you select a parallel or amplify to it from the verse you are in.
Joshua
What happens if I want to look up two totally unrelated texts? How do I do that? Do I have to buy the parallel in order to do this search? Thanks Josh
Helen Brown
The parallels come at no additional cost with the Library 6 levels and with the Scholar's Collection. One is included with the Starter Collection. Unrelated texts can be compared side by side in separate windows (or separate workspaces). Or, you can add a parallel pane in a Search window, which normally always shows the same verses. If you then right-click or press control as you click to scroll, the selected pane scrolls and the others do not move, so you can line up the panes any way you want. They will snap back into synchronization if you navigate to another verse in any other way.
