Enoch Posted February 20, 2011 Share Posted February 20, 2011 Would it be possible to have a Texual Apparatus like the Instant Details? I would like to have this for both OT & NT. Does Accordance have a Text Apparatus module for the Hebrew OT? I am thinking that Textual apparatus should be always available on an instant basis. If Leningrad, Aleppo, or some Dead Sea Scroll should differ, it would be nice to see it right away. Ideally, when the LXX has a Greek word suggesting a different Hebrew word that would also be noted. Perhaps this would be an expansion to Instant Details for many variants. The Maroon colored UBS Greek testament has a wonderfully easy to understand textual apparatus, limited indeed to the number of variant incidents that it lists, but so convenient. However, if I have a Hebrew textual appartus, I don't know where it is. It does not appear at the bottom of my Hebrew text nor in Instant Details. when I entered "textual apparatus" in Accordance help, I found nothing helpful. Under "Hebrew tools" I find no textual apparatus. I searched Accordance help for Studienbibel & got nothing help. Then I looked thru my box of Accordance CD's & found Die Mac Studienbibel. I bought all my upgrades at accordance seminars & everything was supposedly installed in my macbook there. I don't know where the Heb text apparatus is supposed to be in the installed program. However, I stuck the CD in my computer & copied BHS Apparatus to my desktop. when I clicked on it from desktop, it then opened up in a pane now parallel to BHS-GBS. Now putting the cursor on an abbreviation in the apparatus, does key a Latin expansion of a symbol in Instant Details. However, the apparatus is not tied to the verse I am looking at in the BHS-GHS pane. I don't know if the module was not installed in my accordance system, how to put it in the library, or if it is there somewhere already. Why shouldn't Accordance be as easy to use for text apparatus as are printed texts of the Hebrew Tanakh? & the UBS Greek NT? That would be my request for Accordance improvement, tnx for the response Hi, Enoch! The BHS Apparatus should be installed in hard drive>Accordance>Modules>Tools. You might want to check and see if it is already there. If it's not, you can place your new copy there manually, then add it to your Library. Once there, you can open it normally in a parallel pane, using the add reference tool icon. It should then scroll with BHS-W4. Unfortunately, you will also have to add the BHS-GBS, if you want to see the matching markers in the text. The reason this is so complicated right now has to do with the rights of the publishers who own the apparatus. We hope for a better solution down the road, so that this apparatus becomes as easy to use as CNTTS, Metzer's Text Commentary, or Comfort in the NT. I have found it to be quite useful and usable. I think with proper set up, it could be more usable for you too. The Apparatus will be listed, as Timothy mentioned, under the Reference Tools (since it is organized by verse reference). @ Timothy, I have a work around for not having the GBS text displayed all the time (I may have picked it up from a previous forum discussion, but I can't remember): for the BHS Apparatus, I set the primary text for all hypertexts to BHS-GBS. All I have to do is hover over the verse reference in the Apparatus to see all the markings in the text in the ID palette. This way I don't have to have the tagged BHS and the GBS text open at the same time nor do I have to toggle back and forth between them.
