As far as modules go, you may like the Holman OT commentaries or the NIV application commentaries. The Tyndale commentaries are very concise and simple, but don't offer much on application, if that's what you're looking for. You may also like the New Bible Commentary (a part of the IVP reference collection. It's in a group of 15 other modules for $144! Someone more familiar with devotional/application commentaries may have more to offer you. BTW, I noticed that the Tyndale set is on sale for $200 for the whole bible. If I needed it, I would jump all over that. It's a good deal on a really good set of user-friendly commentaries. Derek Kidner on Genesis and Psalms and Joyce Baldwin on the Post exilic prophets and Daniel are particularly phenomenal. The Daniel volume, IMHO, is one of the best volumes on Daniel in any series. I agree with the recommendation of the IVP, and Dr. J's recommendation of the ZIBBCOT. Can't wait to use this for OT studies especially. And I'll keep the ZIBBCOT in mind as well. In my old age I've been doing some serious study of the Bible and it's just delightful to learn the connection of each piece of scripture with others! And to understand the Hebrewness of it all. I know that's not a word... And I do have The Expositor's Bible commentary. When I am studying I read as much commentary as I can on it. I love my Accordance! And I do word studies with the Hebrew and the Greek. Who would have ever thought I would be able to learn so much. Eternal value is right! Wonderful! My mother is also a nurse, been one for 38 years. She's been enjoying studying Genesis on an iPad lately, using the ESV in parallel with the ZIBBCOT. I don't know whether you are studying on a computer or an iPhone, but your resources will work on both. Having Accordance on a mobile device is great for breaks at work. It's difficult for me with the different characters but I have memorized the first half. I learned a few phrases when I visited Israel last October. And there is such meaning in every character/ letter! Just as there is in each number. (And I'm not a numerologist). And thank you, too, Dr. J. You all honor me. But I'm just a woman of some age that values the Word. Although I am a daughter of a King! I checked out the Zibbcot. I'll need to save for a bit for that. Too bad, it's on sale right now.
