How to create a list of proper names in chapter/verse order?

I would like to create a list of proper names in chapter/verse order not alphabetical, or by count up/down. An example would be a list of all proper names in the first chapter of Genesis but I certainly would like to extend this to any user-defineable range. Is this possible and if so how would I go about doing it?

Paul, you could use the Concordance feature to build a concordance of your search results. That would list each name alphabetically and then give the references in reference order.

Or are you wanting something like a list of verses with the proper names they contain, such as:

Matthew 1:1

Ἰησοῦς

Δαυίδ

Ἀβραάμ

You could do this by selecting a portion of your search results, then using the Parse button in the Language section of the Resource palette. Use command-T to customize the Parsing display, and set it to parse Hit Words Only instead of All Words. You might also uncheck everything except Lexical form. That would give you a list like this:

Matthew 1:1

Ἰησοῦ Ἰησοῦς

Δαυὶδ Δαυίδ

Ἀβραάμ Ἀβραάμ

There's no way to turn off the inflected form, but this will at least give you a list of names for each verse.

Hope this helps.

David,

Your second suggestion of using the Parse button with some slight customization is exactly what I was looking for. I used this after doing this search with GNT-T: [NOUN proper] <AND> [RANGE matt 1]

Thanks!
