Running IE on a Mac

My Boot Camp partition recently died (thanks to Windows Update and a Blue Screen, additionally my Mac's Hard Drive died as well and I got a free upgrade to a Quad-Core MacBook Pro, but that's a different story!). I'm wanting to reduce how often I even use Windows now by purchasing as many Mac apps as possible. One thing I sure could use is running IE on my Mac to access a handful of IE-only sites such as one at my workplace. I'm wondering if the best way to do this would be to use CrossOver. Has anyone ran IE in CrossOver, and if so, how were the results?

Thanks!

I haven't used Crossover for a long time, and that is because it was frustrating to use. It doesn't look good, for one thing. But also the apps always seem to have some minor issues. You can see this by checking out (if you haven't already) the Crossover webpages for Internet Explorer 8 and 9: http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name?app_id=4225 and http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name?app_id=7272. They list both IE's as having some sort of issues. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to try out Crossover for free: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/tosf/

I assume that you have tried the "other" browsers without success? Firefox, Chrome, even Opera?

Another way would be to buy Parallels or VMWare, since you already have the Windows OS (I assume you do, since you were using Bootcamp). Or use the free Virtual Box at http://www.virtualbox.org/

These programs are far more advanced than Crossover, and easier than Bootcamp since you will be running Windows and OS X at the same time. This would be the way that I would go.

Best wishes in your endeavor,

Levi

These are all much better solutions than crossover if you must run IE

Thanks guys for your help! Yeah, I might have to bite the bullet and re-install Windows on my Mac. I already have Fusion installed, so I could go Fusion or Boot Camp. Plus since it's a couple websites where I work, possibly holler out to our CTO and get our devs to make the sites browser-independent. :-)
