First Time Accordance Purchase

Wayward

Recommended Posts

I plan on buying Accordance and a MacBook Pro this month (currently running Windows, but I've owned Macs before) and have a few questions. (1) When looking at the various packages on the Web site, e.g., Library 6 Premier Level, I noticed next to some items are dollar amounts and asterisks next to others. I assume a dollar amount next to an item indicates the item is available outside of a package, but the item is included in the package for the package price. (2) With the packages I have decided on, I will get four free bible unlocks. At the present there are only three bibles that I really must have, ESV, NRSV, and RSV. Can I wait on using the fourth unlock, or do I have to use all the unlocks immediately? (3) When I order the CDs, will Accordance and all the packages/modules be the latest available, or will I have to download updates?

Thanks,

David

David:

(1) There are two lists on most package webpages. The first shows the modules that are included in the package, and the second those that can be unlocked on the same CD-ROM. In the case of Library 6 Premier, all the modules on the two CD-ROMs are included, so there is only one list.

The price or asterisk are built in to the database that is displayed in any list on these pages. You can click the module name to see the list of packages that include that module, or from which it can be unlocked.

The asterisk beside a module means it is not an individual unlock, but always part of a CD-ROM, a level or a "group" of modules.

A price beside the module tells you the price when it is an individual unlock.

Both are irrelevant if the module is included in the package of your choice, such as Library 6 Premier level.

(2) You can get your free Bible unlocks at any time, but you must tell us which ones you want so that we can pay the royalties and send you the unlock code.

(3) Usually you will want to download the latest version of Accordance as we cannot remaster each CD-ROM every time we upgrade. Usually you will receive the latest versions of the modules on your CD-ROMs, but sometimes there is a module upgrade posted before it makes it onto the CD-ROM.

I hope this answers your questions. There is an FAQ page about on-line ordering which you may find helpful.

Helen,

I appreciate your explanation of how the package webpages are set-up ("first list" vs. "second list") as well as how to understand the asterisks vs. the dollar amounts.

However, I'm still confused about what exactly is included with the Library 6 Standard Level because of the description that appears at the top of that page.

"The Standard Level includes all the contents of the Introductory level with your choice of two modern $30 Bibles, and adds the NASB with Strong's, Webster's Unabridged Dictionary, Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary and numerous additional study aids. You can add more Bibles or upgrade to Premier level simply by purchasing unlock codes."

I read this to mean that the Standard Level includes Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary. Yet Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary shows up in the second list, suggesting to me that it needs to be purchased as a separate add-on. Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary shows up in the second list for the Introductory Level also, so I don't see how the Standard Level "adds" Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary. The NASB with Strong's and Webster's Unabridged Dictionary both show up in the second list for the Introductory Level, but then do show up in the first list for the Standard Level which makes sense based on the package description.

I was thinking of starting out with the Introductory Level (which includes one free Bible) and just paying $30 to add Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary. When I read the description for the Standard Level, I thought I might pay the additional $90 over the Introductory Level price so I could get the Complete Commentary, an extra free Bible, and all the other stuff that goes along with the Standard Level even though I am not specifically wanting those tools. That seemed like a good value for me, but now I am unsure about whether or not the Standard Level really does include Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary.

A clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- Terry

Mea culpa! Mea culpa! Mea maxima culpa! :(

There was an error in the database which you have pointed out, and I have now corrected. I won't bore you with the details of how it got there, but I am amazed that no-one has pointed it out until now.

Matthew Henry's Complete Commentary, an important work, is now correctly showing up as included in Library 6 Standard level.

Thank you for your patience with us, and apologies for the confusion.
