Keyboard shortcuts...

Keyboard shortcuts for the following will be a boon:

  1. Toggle the "Show all text" checkbox
  2. Toggle the "Interlinear" checkbox
  3. Toggle the "Compare" checkbox.
  4. Show/hide the "Browser" pane (that is, the "table of contents" pane in Tools).

Should these be added to Accordance I (for one) will be most grateful.

Further to my above post, the following would also improve ease (and pleasure) of use:

  1. In a "Text Window" (not a Search Window):

    1. Pressing <Spacebar> should page-down but currently pops up a dialog saying "Cannot type any characters, since this window has no entry box". Directing any typing to the search box in a "search window" makes sense and is very efficient, but in a "Text Window" (which I use to do my daily Bible reading) page down via <space> would be great.
    2. It would be great if pressing <down-arrow> or <up-arrow> would move to the previous/next verse. As it is it simply moves a cursor within the text itself.

Bibleworks (which I used extensively in the past) allows the "meaning" of the arrow keys to be changed to mean either "move cursor up/down", "move to previous/next verse" or "move to previous/next hit".

Stuart, some of these keys would be great to add, but we are always running out of hotkeys. We'll definitely take them into the consideration. Specifically, the space bar in the text window would be easy to do.

You can navigate by verse with Command-Up and Command-Down arrow.

Thanks Joel. I'm aware of Command-Up and Command-Down but have been spoiled by Bibleworks' ability to change the "meaning" of the plain, unadorned Up and Down keys. I would usually switch Up and Down to be the equivalent of Command-Up and Command-Down (in Bibleworks, that is). Space-bar in the text window (whenever it can be enabled) will be wonderful.

I must say that the last week with Accordance (I'm brand new to Accordance) has been a delight. The ability to customize text display, duplicate tabs (Command-D) and windows (I've added a shortcut Cmd+Shift+D via System Preferences), etc is truly wonderful. Accordance makes study so efficient... I wonder how I ever got by with "the other Mac Bible software". Long live Accordance! :-)

Glad to hear it! We'll also take into consideration a preference to adjust what the up/down arrows do. The problem is, the more preferences, the more overwhelmed users get looking at them!

One possible solution to "shortcut overload" is to expose functions (such as toggling the contents browser, interlinear on/of checkbox, etc via menu items (without Accordance-supplied shortcuts). Then users can add shortcuts via System Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts if they wish.
