can it get any better? perhaps how we search?

I don't think that there is a better product on bible software. Accordance tops them all. Yet somehow the software manages to improve each year, each new release. I also know that it gets more difficult as each change has ramifications on every aspect of the program and how many people use it. One change may benefit a one group but destroy the experience of another. So my suggestion below is tempered with that knowledge.

My suggestion is what has been most difficult about Accordance from the first time I used it. I kept expecting a change but perhaps I'm missing an important "why we do this." I've learned to live with it. But still...

I don't understand why the VERSES and WORDS searches are not more intuitive. If I type AMOS 3:1 in Words search, the software is smart enough to beep at me and bring up an dialog box, but not smart enough to just go there. If I type "in the beginning was the word" in VERSE mode, a similar slap on the hand. Why such a thing? I've learned to press CMD-; to switch, but I sometimes forget. It's possible that such a feature could be a toggle button in preferences for those (I can't imagine) who need to manually switch between Verses and Words mode.

Either way, I use Accordance daily. I recommend it without reservation to my students and to anyone who asks. Thank you for your work and dedication!

Haha! Sorry, just had to laugh as I said the exact same thing earlier in this thread! I agree, if it's smart enough to say your doing a verse search in a word search box why not just go there! Anyway, here's the thread if your interested in reading the comments.

As mentioned in the linked thread, this will be addressed in an upcoming version of Accordance.

Thank you Joel,

In addition to the word/verse thing, i would find it useful if the search word or key number would highlight across any additional translations. For example, searching in GN-T highlights the greek word, but it would be interesting to see the key-word as it is translated in NRSV and NKJV, etc. highlighted as well if those translations are linked.

I think that a more intuitive way to search the "search results" would be helpful.

Thanks,

WR
