Ken Simpson
Hi all, I don't want to get into the advantages or disadvantages of social media. However, I would like to find all the verses in the Bible that would fit within 140 characters (Twitter) or 160 characters (SMS) I can see how to do word counts, but what about character counts in a verse? Ruben Gomez
There is a workaround that could approximate what you are looking for. Open a search window with, say, the ESV and type * <WITHIN 1-25 Words> [FIELD Begin]. Then duplicate the window and replace the search syntax with * <WITHIN 26-100 Words> [FIELD Begin]. Finally, duplicate the second window and replace the search syntax with [CONTENTS ESV] <NOT> [CONTENTS ESV 2]. This will return most of the verses that are less than 140 characters long. Obviously, you'll have to play with the figures (I chose 25 to be on the safe side, since that doesn't include blank spaces and punctuation marks) and find what works best for you. Just an idea. Ken Simpson
Hi Helen, thanks for the feedback. I had considered that this was one reason why I couldn't figure out how to do it :-) Ruben, thanks so much for the suggestion. It will get close won't it! Workarounds are nearly as good! I'll start experimenting with this and hope there aren't too many verses with 15 letter names in them... Regards Ken
