I guess that's no must have feature as it targets "pro users" but it would be really neat and it doesn't seem to be to complicated to implement.
A custom URI scheme gives other apps a hook into your app.
The benefits of implementing those are maybe best described at Appcubbys website. There you will find out the usecase of an app like that (http://vimeo.com/43725615) and also what it would take to make Accordance to play nice with it (http://appcubby.com/urls/).
I would find it useful if it would allow to do search for words or verses in your default translation (e.g. with acc://search/word=[promt], acc://search/vers=[promt]).
It's a bit like using LaunchBar & Applescript to search for stuff on the Mac.
Launchcenter isn't the only app. "Bang on" is a pretty interesting one too. The later even keeps the search query so you could e.g. search "Moses" on Wikipedia and than just tap one button to open Accordance with the search result for "Moses"
Let me know if you have more questions.
