Amplify UI inconsistency

Hi All,

I have so far used the searching capabilities rather little in Acc. - this is 10.1.2 by the by.

This evening while finishing up translation of Mark 3:6 I was wanting more info on Herodians. So highlight and Amplify or so I thought. So I highlighted and right clicked and ... no amplify option in the menu .... odd methinks. I then went to the tool bar and click on the Amplify button there and selected English Tools -> All English. Cool. I then remembered the Amplify button against the tools in the library. So I closed the search panes and highlighted again and went to the library English Tools and noticing that there was an Amplify button against the folder thought I'll just amplify to all contained tools here. Not so. I am presented with a very similar popup menu with the tools in it (just as I am from the toolbar) but there is no All English option.

So I'm a little puzzled. It would be way handy to have the right click on the mouse offer the Amplify submenus, as there'd be zero mouse movement. But I'm also puzzled why the toolbar and the library Amplify buttons are not consistent in this regard.

Thus the following question in three parts :

1. is there a rationale for this difference ?

2. is it on a fix list somewhere but its low priority for now ?

3. am I in need of re-education ?

Thx

D

The rational is that we are still transitioning from the older interface to the new Accordance 10. The Amplify menu offers all the Amplify options that used to be offered in the Resource palette, now obsolete, incluing all of a category. The right-click menu offers only the most frequently used options for a selection. If we added entire menus it would become unwieldy. We have added Amplify to the Library tab, but only for individual modules.

I suggest you create a workspace with the tools you want to search in a batch, and save it to My Workspaces. You can amplify to it via the right-click menu or the Library: Workspace and it will search each module.

And/or create a Group in My Groups in the Library with those modules. You can amplify to it via the right-click menu or the Library: Search All and it will search each module.

I hope these other methods will give you helpful ideas. There are often many ways in Accordance to accomplish the same thing, and you just need to learn and try them until you find the one that best fits your workflow.

Thanx Helen. I've downloaded even more podcasts to look at. I've read some more doc. I appreciate there are multiple ways to do things. I'm actually trying to find my yellow brick for the various functions I use in Acc. Slowly getting there. I am now about to try to really understand the distinction between what Acc calls Amplify and mere Searching if it might be called that. So no doubt more in a bit. I've yet to look at Groups either.

Never a dull moment - and in the cracks learn Greek :)

Thanx again.
