Frequent Word Interface

Is there an interface to see what the frequent words used in a passage are? I've seen interfaces where it shows the most frequent words, and the words are bigger or smaller depending on how frequently they appear.

There are quite a number of ways to accomplish such studies. The fastest and easiest is to simply do a word search for '*' (no quotes), which searches for every word. Specify which passage you are interested in under the More Options section. Once the search has been completed (shouldn't take long, depending on the speed of your computer), click the Details button. Here you'll see an entire index of every word, including the number of times it occurs. We can then customize this by pretting Command-T (or selecting Set Graph Display... from the Display menu) and choosing to Count Down under the Sort: popup menu. You now have a listing of the most common words going down to the unique words in the passage.

It doesn't stop here, though. By selecting to add an Analysis Graph form the Add: Graph popup menu in the main Details workspace, you can see a graphical layout of where the common words occur. By selecting to add a Pie chart, you see how the top 20 or so words breakdown in percentages. Likewise, the Analysis Bar chart breaks it down by bars.

I'm not finished yet! Going back to the main search window, you can specify exactly how many occurrences of the word you are looking for. For instance, a search of [COUNT 1] shows every word in the range that occurs once. You can even do a search of [Count 50-100] to find the words that occur between 50 and 100 times. Just as with the * search, the Analysis Graphs can give you a nice representation of the breakdown or where each word occurs.

Check out these other topics on the forums for more information or examples. In addition, I believe David Lang has written about the feature in the Accordance Blog, but I couldn't find it after a quick search. Perhaps someone else can provide that link.
