Dictionary of Deities and Demons in the Bible (DDD)

Are there any plans to offer the Dictionary of Deities and Demons of the Bible as an Accordance module? As a graduate student studying the Ancient Near East, this would be immensely helpful. I am planning to buy a print copy, but if it were available in Accordance I would definitely buy that instead.

Thanks!

What an excellent idea!

I have an MA in Ancient Near Eastern Studies and have found it invaluable for exegeting the OT. Too often we consider the Bible in isolation from the culture of the people to whom it was addressed. This is especially true of their religious culture. We tend to idealize them, as if their religion was the only one they knew or the only choice they could make. Yet the Bible itself reveals that its various audiences struggled with their faiths and were often tempted by, or at least influenced by, various other religions. The same is certainly true of today's Christians—and represents yet another commonality between our spiritual experience and that of our spiritual "ancestors."

Oh yes, for all the reasons Dr J outlined above...

Thanks, Dr. J.! I really enjoy your podcasts, and I hope that Accordance is able to make DDD into a module in the near future.

Both sound like they ought to be first-person shooter games.

Hmmm...., now there's an innovative feature Accordance could add!

Well as an obvious starting point I would suggest David (that would be one of the D's) starting out with a slingshot gradually upgrading as he defeats various animals until he is able to meet Goliath.

Of course you could go the role play route so that he makes his way to become king and once there builds up Israel then tries to win the hand (or kill the husband) of various beautiful women.

Dr. J,

Has there been any change in the possible of adding DDD as a module in the past 2 years?     It is available in Logos, but I don't use their software...

Many thanks,

D

Any update on this one? For obvious reasons?

No update yet. Licensing issues are a bit hairy. But it is in discussion.

Still waiting patiently for this resource. I agree that ANE and 2nd Temple resources are the ones I'm looking for the most. Journals of those areas are also appreciated.
