Is Highlighted "Sus. 50" a bug in the TDNT module?

'2. tó presbytérion, which occurs in pre-Christian works only in Sus. 50 for the “dignity of elders,”'

 

Jumping into TDNT from πρεσβυτερίου in 1 Tim 4:10 yields the above word string.

 

μὴ ἀμέλει τοῦ ἐν σοὶ χαρίσματος, ὃ ἐδόθη σοι διὰ προφητείας μετὰ ἐπιθέσεως τῶν χειρῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτερίου.

 

Apparently before the NT this word commonly translated as "presbytery" (council of elders) is not attested in such meaning, but as "dignity of elders" (or perhaps "elderness"). And apparently Jeremias has argued for that meaning in 1 Tim 4:10, rejecting the autocratic Ignatius usage for 1 Tim.

 

Now in the Accordance TDNT module, "Sus. 50" is highlighted, as if there were an explanation of "Sus. 50" in Instant Details. But nothing comes up in Instant Details, & clicking on Sus. 50 yields a blank window popping up. So, I am curious as to what Sus. 50 means. What is the purpose of the highlighting of Sus. 50 by Accordance?

Hi Enoch,

Sus 50 is a reference to Susanna v50 - which is included in the LXX of Daniel (ch 13). If you open TDNT in a parallel pane and then click on the underlined text (which is just Sus.) you are shown that the reference is short for Susanna. It is currently not possible to successfully click links in instant details.

 

The text in LXX2 at Dan 13:50 says

 

'καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς μετὰ σπουδῆς. καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι Δεῦρο κάθισον ἐν μέσῳ ἡμῶν καὶ ἀνάγγειλον ἡμῖν· ὅτι σοὶ δέδωκεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ πρεσβεῖον.' (Daniel 13:50 LXX2)

 

as you can see there is the standard πρεσβύτεροι word, but also the less common πρεσβεῖον (πρεσβεῖον (πρεσβύτης) Noun neut sing acc (comm) age privilege; eldership)
