Showing search results simultaneously over multiple tagged texts

Suppose I have a workspace with several tagged texts open and do a search. Wouldn't I want the results to be displayed in all of the open, tagged texts, English or whatever? They are all linked after all with the Strong's Numbers.

If you have the tagged texts open in one zone, the search will display the verses in the other texts. You can then hover over the search result in the version that the search was undertaken and the corresponding words are highlighted in the other texts. I have attached a screen shot. If this doesn't answer your question, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in soon.

I'm not sure Andrew's screenshot quite worked. Here is what he is talking about.

 

 

However, as you correctly pointed out, a search won't show a "hit" in the other texts, since the search was not on that text.

 

You can combine the search idea with the Andrew's example above like this.

Here's another idea. If you open your texts in separate zones (by dragging them)

 

you can use the LINK command to repeat the search in each of the opened zones. Then whenever you change the initial linked to search, all of them will change at once

Nice, Ken. A good way, too, to compare how different versions translate a given word. Analytics could be opened for each zone so that results are viewed simultaneously.

 

P.S. I played with this a bit. It works great with keyed texts as long as you aren't trying to do simultaneous searches that include a key word where the texts are tied to different numbering systems. Basically, you run into problems if one of your texts is the NAS95S, the KJVS, or some version of the NIV. I did some searches with the NAS95 and NIV11 both linked to the ESV. Not surprisingly, I got some odd results, and sometimes the NAS95 didn't do a search at all (where the NAS95 number had a lower case letter after the number, e.g. 19b). This is not an Accordance problem. It's just the systems used by the publishers, I guess. Anyway, it's good to be aware up front that you may get some odd results.
