Designed both for serious students and for general readers of the Bible, the PNTC volumes seek above all to make clear the meaning of the text of Scripture as we have it. The scholars writing these volumes interact with the most important, informed contemporary debate yet avoid undue technical detail.

  1. Daniel Amari

In general, a series is not even: some volumes are outdated, some are average, and others are missing. This is true for every series. However, Pillar NTC series contains the highest concentration of top commentaries on the NT, in my opinion. And for the price, especially when it goes on sale, is unbeatable. It surpasses in value and price almost every other commentary series. If you are restricted in owning one NT commentary series, this would be the one hands down. The series, while rich in technical information, is accessible to all. Nevertheless, the publisher has taken out the volumes by Peter O’Brien. This is unfortunate since these volumes, especially the one on Hebrews, are superb. The volumes by O’Brien have not been replaced. I can understand the hesitation of replacing such superb volumes. All in all, this is the first NT series I recommend.
