First, don't buy it from Apple. Search for the same eBook in another Store. Best as ePub.

Load it in http://calibre-ebook.com/download_osxhere you can make changes and you can edit them.

Then convert it in calibre to HTMLZ (a zipped html), the problem now is that the Mac is unable to unzip this. So you need an additional Software like the Unarchiver from here http://unarchiver.c3.cxor direct from the MacApp store.

Another possibility is to convert it in the newest Calibre as .docx (is brand new) and then you can easily edit them and now convert it with https://itunes.apple...422235937?mt=12to a .html or http://Jutoh.com. T his creates a cleaner .html, than if you save it in Word etc. as website.

For Windows users the steps the same. Take Calibre to convert it to HTMLZ and unzip it with http://www.7-zip.org. With http://.Jutoh.com you have also a cleaner html.

Now import it http://accordancefil....htm#kanchor406

Unfortunately Accordance doesn't support links and cross-refs, colors etc.

Can you provide some personal screen shots of how yours turned out? I have been messing around with this but to no avail. And i don't wanna spend a ton of time if its just going to be a wall of text with no formatting whatsoever

I found that I had many issues with converting my book at first, but I did get help from Accordance and it turned out great. I was told the book I had brought out several bugs and issues in importing. They have been corrected and will be incorporated in a newer version (this was about 11.05 so some may be incorporated already it is also possible that the fixes will be coming later due to some major reworking of User Tools (Graphics are coming)). For me the best thing was converting to DOCX and then saving as a webpage in MSWord. This produced the smoothest conversion...

-Dan

PS:DocX is an option now in Calibre.

In Word for Mac 2015 you have to choose "Save as HTML filtered". This filtered kills additional HTML tags which is only needed to import the .html later in Word again. But for Accordance the additional tags destroys my import. But with the "filtered" option it is much better. See my post under http://www.accordanc...d +normal +bug

Yes I can. If you need a better instruction, ask.

I beliefe you'll find out how to import in Calibre. Then [Press] "Convert" button and choose HTMLZ. Attached File  Bildschirmfoto 2015-08-23 um 17.00.53.png   319.29KB   2 downloads Calibre will then this save on the place where you had chosen by the install of Calibre.

Then unzip it with the Unzipper.

Attached File  Bildschirmfoto 2015-08-23 um 17.03.00.png   328.24KB   1 downloads

Then import the html in Accordance see here. Or Attached File  Bildschirmfoto 2015-08-23 um 17.20.32.png   161.74KB   2 downloads and choose then "as HTML"

Greetings and see the possible way in the post above.

Ha... in the time that I make the screenshots etc. Accordance gives a better solution.

Hi Mark, since I didn't have Accordance when the webinar was run,

is there anychance we could get the information about importing ebooks into Accordance again somehow?

Thanks :)

Here is a link to an archived webinar using Accordance 10 on: User Notes and User Tools

I recently took the newer webinar that now covers just User Tools and in it Mark did a superb job of demonstrating how to use "styles" in Word before saving at a filtered webpage. This made all the difference in the world for me. It will automatically create a table of contents for the browser. I highly recommend the webinar.

In my humble opinion User Tools could be greatly enhanced if it would allow Word or RTF imports.

Any possibility on getting access to that newer Webinar from August 2016?

I agree with Tony; allowing Word or RTF imports would be very useful. Being at Seminary, I would be able to take notes in Word format, directly in the lecture outline file supplied by my lecturers, and later import it to Accordance.

Hello tarihala

If you save the Word file as "html filtered" in Word 16, you are able to import it as html in Accordance.

Thanks Fabian. Unfortunately only have Word 2011. I can't find a 'html filtered' option anywhere.

Hello tarihala

you can load LibreOffice from the Web or MacApp Store (which you prefer). And use there save as HTML.

One negative from using LibreOffice is, that the first line of a new Paragraph is always one space first. Like:

 Hello tarihala, lehehfhwhfewfhk owhwhfkjsf lwehh

slfjlwejflewj wfefe oiwf

So by the hello is one space, but thats not a great problem.

In LibreOffice the Images are saved as Base64 in the HTML file itself. This is very great so the Images are on on the right place saved and not exported as a separate file.

BUT Accordance doesn't support the import of Base64 images right now. I hope it comes with 12.

You can add your voice https://www.accordan...ures/?hl=base64to support this request.

I'm not sure right now but I beliefe the bullets are not so good supported for import in Accordance than from Word. Try it out.

If you have any questions I try to respond.

Greetings

Fabian

Thanks heaps Fabian! I tried it out. I realise there's a lot of formatting to redo though; particularly, the bullet points are not indented. Instead, they all align on the left hand side. And TOC entirely missing. Any more hints or tips? Either for word documents or drm-free epubs to format correctly in Accordance?

In any case, this is miles better than anything I'd tried before; thanks Fabian!!!

[p.s. In case Accordance staff are reading, I think drm-free epub and docx implementation would be an AMAZINGLY useful feature for Accordance to include in a future update...]

Yes unfortunately LibreOffice has another tag for bullets than Word which Accordance doesn't support now. In this case you have to use another doc to html converter than LibreOffice.

Joel, please add support for the tag which LibroOffice use for bullets.

TOC issue: Do you use RTF or doc or what ever to create HTML? Do you set headings in your created doc files? This is a must in doc(x). Accordance can't recognize what is not there. So if you use Headings like Title, headings 1, headings 2, then you had tagged your file and this information will be used and showed in Accordance too.
