Single User

Accordance must fulfill its obligations to publishers to account for and pay royalties on each copy of their works. Therefore our license policies are designed to protect publishers and authors, and not only Accordance.

When you purchase Accordance you are in fact purchasing a license for just one user. We try to be flexible, therefore we allow you to install Accordance:

  • on any devices, desktop or mobile, that are for your own use
  • or for spouses if it is for occasional personal use only (rather than professional or intensive student use).

Family License

This license enables families to buy multiple copies of Accordance at a discount for any current dependents. The software is owned by each individual and can be used away from home, and upgraded even when he/she is living independently.

Multi-user License (August 2021)

Multi-user Licenses are offered to institutions such as schools or churches to allow them to put copies of Accordance on multiple computers which belong to the institution.

Multi-user Licenses apply to computers owned by an institution, and usually accessed by multiple users. They do not cover privately owned computers or devices belonging to staff or faculty members. Accordance can be installed on local computers or devices on site. We do not support validation files to be used with an active directory.

Multi-user license pricing is available, but please request a quote for your situation.

* Accordance is not supported for use on a domain. This includes schools, businesses, churches and any other organizational application.

Organizational Staff License (July 2020)

Organizational Staff Purchases allow an institution to purchase the software for many staff members at a discount. The software is supplied in a separate account for each user, and can be installed on any devices, desktop or mobile, employed exclusively by the user. If the user leaves that institution, the software can either remain with the user or be transferred to another staff member.

Please request a quote for your situation.

Transfer of Licenses for Accordance and Accordance Modules

Licenses for Accordance and its modules may only be transferred by OakTree Software. Only software and modules that have been purchased from or registered with OakTree may be transferred. Users may not simply sell or give the software or modules to others, nor leave them on a device which is transferred to a new owner. Levels and other discounted packages and upgrades cannot be broken up, all included modules must be transferred together. However, separate purchases may be transferred to different owners.

Every transfer request must be made by the original owner (seller) and include the contact information of the new owner (purchaser). For each transfer request the seller must pay OakTree a transfer fee of $25 per purchaser, irrespective of the number of modules or the value of the transfer. All transfers are at the discretion of OakTree which reserves the right to refuse to transfer the ownership.

Sellers should obtain agreement from OakTree before finalizing the transfer. They must affirm that they have removed those modules from all their devices, and that they will not use them again unless they repurchase them. All old CD-ROMs or DVDs with Accordance should be destroyed. OakTree may require a screenshare to verify that the modules have been removed.

Purchasers must create an online account for themselves, and own or purchase the current version of Accordance so that modules can be added to the account for Easy Install.

OakTree will then transfer the ownership of the modules to the purchaser and link them to the account.

Notices or advertisements for the private sale of Accordance and its modules are not accepted on the Accordance Forums or Facebook pages.

Software Piracy (July 2020)

Software piracy is the illegal sale or use of software and takes many forms. The software or electronic media you purchase does not belong to you, it is licensed for use by one user or on a single computer.

OakTree allows you to install the software on any devices, desktop or mobile, that are for your own use. We avoid harrassing you with rigid anti-piracy technologies that prevent re-installation. We do track the number of software activations in each account, and if a generous limit is exceeded we warn you that further activations will not be accepted.

The following are illegal uses of our software and modules, and constitute infringment of our copyright and that of the licensors of the modules:

  • Installing Accordance on more than one computer for use by more than one user, unless site licensed or family licensed.
  • Installing Accordance on more computers than specified in the site license.
  • Distributing our fonts to non-Accordance users.
  • Passing on older versions of CD-ROMs before or after upgrading.
  • Selling illegally copied CD-ROMs.
  • Using unlock codes obtained from any source that is not authorized by OakTree.
  • Uploading to, or downloading software from, piracy sites or distribution networks.

When you contact OakTree for an upgrade, we may attempt to verify that your copy of Accordance is legitimate. We reserve the right to refuse to support or upgrade users of illegal copies of our software.

Please contact us if you become aware of attempts to distribute pirate copies of Accordance.
