The Anchor Yale Bible Commentary – NT

Anchor NT Cor The Anchor Yale Bible commentary is a project of international and interfaith scope in which Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish scholars from all over the world contributed individual volumes. The project is not sponsored by any ecclesiastical organization and is not intended to reflect any particular theological doctrine.

The Anchor Yale Bible is committed to producing commentaries in the tradition established half a century ago by the founders of the series, William Foxwell Albright and David Noel Freedman. It aims to present the best contemporary scholarship in a way that is accessible not only to scholars but also to the educated non-specialist. Its approach is grounded in exact translation of the ancient languages and an appreciation of the historical and cultural context in which the biblical books were written supplemented by insights from modern methods, such as sociological and literary criticism.

This commentary set covers the entire New Testament in 26 volumes with an additional second edition of First Corinthians.

Bible Times PhotoMuseum (Preorder)

PhotoMuseum_120 The Accordance Bible Times PhotoMuseum is designed to illustrate the people of the Bible, the buildings they constructed, the art they created, and the objects they used. This unique guide includes beautiful high-resolution images of ancient objects and explains how they shed light on the world of the Bible. It is arranged like a typical Bible dictionary, but it is unique in that it begins with the artifacts themselves. Most Bible dictionaries offer a general treatment of a subject and then illustrate it with an image or two. The PhotoMuseum, on the other hand, treats each subject by exploring the actual archaeological finds which inform our knowledge of that subject. In other words, it lets you look at the actual clues so you can better understand how they help unravel the mystery of the biblical world.

This exciting module is now available for preorder, and will be released in time for Christmas. The Bible Times PhotoMuseum is a wonderful gift idea for friends and family members who love to study the Bible!

Old Testament Pseudepigrapha (Charlesworth)

Pseudepigrapha 2 vol The writers of the Bible drew from ancient literary sources for much of their work. Some of these sources may be lost forever, but many have recently come to light. Known as the Pseudepigrapha, they are made available here in two volumes. Volume 1 covers Apocalyptic Literature and Testaments, and Volume 2 includes expansions of the “Old Testament” and legends, wisdom and philosophical literature, prayers, psalms and odes, and fragments of lost Judeo-Hellenistic works. Together, both volumes of The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha present literature that sheds light on the ongoing development of Judaism and the roots of Christianity. Using the very latest techniques in biblical scholarship, this international team of recognized scholars has put together a monumental work that will enhance the study of Western religious heritage for years to come.

The Accordance edition presents the complete contents of this work in nine modules. The main text covers both volumes, and leaves out only alternative versions of a few texts derived from additional sources. These alternative versions are available in parallel text modules. Each text is accompanied by a Notes module which includes all the introductory material and extensive annotations to the text, and another module with cross-references.

Churches and Monasteries in Israel

Churches Israel Hundreds of churches are spread across the width and length of Israel. Most of them are built on a historic tradition linking their location to the life of Jesus and those who continued his path. Some are easily identified from a distance thanks to their handsome bell towers and spectacular domes. Others are hidden on side streets or are far outside communities.

Churches and Monasteries in Israel invites the reader on a visual journey to the remarkable stones that compose the mosaic that is the Christian experience in Israel. This magnificent photo collection includes hundreds of high resolution images that cover more than 50 churches/monasteries in Israel. For each church, researcher and cultural journalist, David Rapp, describes the history, art, and architecture, while Hanan Isachar presents beautiful photographs that show the aesthetic and spiritual aspects of the building and the people assembled there.
