The third text of our new Rabbinic series is SIFRE-NUM, joining TOSEFTA and MEKH-RI which we announced on the occasion of the 15th World Congress of Jewish Studies.
These texts are not morphologically tagged, but they do appear in parallel with the tagged texts to which they form commentaries.
The Sifre BeMidBar (Numbers) is a halakhic commentary on parts of Numbers attributed to Rabbi Shimeon. This module is the electronic text of the MS Oxford Bodleian 151.
The Mekhilta de Rabbi Ishmael is a halakhic midrash (commentary) on Exodus 12-23, 31 and 35. This module is the electronic text of the Munich Codex of Mekhilta de Rabbi Yishmael. Version 2.0 of the Mekhilta offers improved scrolling with the Biblical text. The paragraphs have been subdivided to match the verse numbers more closely.
The Tosefta is a supplement to the Mishnah. It is another compilation of the Jewish oral law from the that period. This module is the electronic text of the first printed edition of the Tosefta, Venice, 1521-22, as included with Isaac Alfasi's Halakhot.
The electronic texts were provided by the Primary Textual Witnesses Project (PTWP) of Bar Ilan University, directed by Prof. Shamma Friedman.
The purchase price of these modules will be credited towards a future bundle of Rabbinic texts which is currently in preparation. These modules, including the upgrade to the Mekhilta, can be downloaded here.
