Seminars & Shows
We are planning more training sessions for this year. Most people who take the time to come are extremely grateful to learn all the things that they never knew they were missing.
The upcoming locations and dates are:
User's Conference
Free Training Seminars
More seminars are planned, so watch this space!
PLEASE make the sessions known to the staff and students on any campus in the area, as well as to any users you know. We will not necessarily be able to notify each seminary or college in the vicinity of the seminar, so if you have a contact or are on such a campus, please arrange to pass on the information.
All-day seminars (9 to 5) will consist of two sessions with a break for lunch. The first session will introduce Accordance, the underlying concepts, the interface and searching, and the range of available materials, and is suitable for non-users and new users. The second session will demonstrate graphic tools, user tools, the advanced search and analysis capabilities with special emphasis on the Greek and Hebrew tagged texts and accompanying tools. Users are encouraged to bring their own laptops to follow the projected demonstrations.
Shorter seminars at academic institutions focus on the Greek and Hebrew texts and tools.
A sales representative is usually available to offer upgrades and new purchases at a special seminar discount.
We invite you to try our new custom training seminars, where we encourage you to pick the sessions of most interest to you, and skip some of the others.
The feedback from our seminars is generally excellent, except for one recurring recommendation: that we separate our users into the beginners and the experienced, and into English users and Greek and Hebrew students. This is easier said than done! To arrange for two rooms, projectors and screens, and two trainers, or one room for two days, is not so simple. Since our seminars are free we cannot simply book rooms in a nearby hotel.
So we are trying a new schedule for our fall seminars: we'll stretch them into the evening, and postpone the Greek and Hebrew and the more complex searches until the evening session. This will enable us to cover the overview of the Accordance interface, the palettes and windows, searching and amplifying, the graphical products, and the user modules in greater depth but a more relaxed pace.
9:00-12:30: Accordance interface: Windows and Palettes, Searching, Amplifying, and Customizing.
2:00-5:00: Map, Timeline and Images, User Tools and Notes.
6:30-10:00: Greek and Hebrew, Constructs, Advanced searches and wildcards.
We strongly request that you come to the morning introductory sessions, or watch the training videos or podcasts ahead of time. We will not have time to repeat all that material in the later sessions for any who are unfamiliar with Accordance, and in any case, even experienced users often comment on the valuable information they gained in that first session. If you plan to skip the first session, be sure that you are familiar with the Accordance interface and basic searching. The online videos and podcasts offer helpful preparation.
We have decided no longer to charge for registration at seminars, so they are completely free to all attendees. However, it greatly aids our planning if attendees do let us know as soon as possible if they plan to come, and inform us if their plans change. Please register at least 5 days in advance by sending an email to seminars(at)accordancebible(dot)com. You can also use this address for any questions about the seminars.
OakTree Software will also be presenting Accordance at these upcoming meetings:
WHW Conference Los Angeles, CA, Oct. 4-8, 2010

Evangelical Theological Society Atlanta, GA, Nov. 17-19, 2010

Please come and see us if you can, and tell any friends who may be attending these meetings or in the area.
