Bible in Basic English

Published in 1965, this translation of the Bible uses “Basic English”, a simple form of the English language with a vocabulary of fewer than 1000 words produced by C. K. Ogden of the Orthological Institute in 1930.  This translation is effective in communicating the Bible to students, to those with limited education, or to those for whom English is a second language.

The original New Testament translation was released in 1941 and the Old Testament was released in 1949.
