The Revidierte Elberfelder Bibel of 1985, an evangelical Protestant translation, is the most literal contemporary German Bible translation, based on the Hebrew and the Greek text. It is a revision of the former Elberfelder Bibel of 1855 (OT) and 1871 (NT) which was translated by John Nelson Darby among others.
