Hi from the Accordance Exchange!
I’ve been the Accordance Exchange administrator for the past six years. When I took the Exchange over, it was already a treasure trove of resources that our wonderful users had contributed for some years. It’s never had a big profile, but there are some resources there that are just gold in my opinion. This is the first in an ongoing focus on the best (in my opinion) and new modules on the Exchange.
There is one module that I recommend everyone at least have a look at. Search Ranges (v12) is a replacement for the stock standard Search Ranges file (for macOS and Windows versions of Accordance) that adds both a whole set of new Search Ranges, and also organisation to the Search Ranges menu.
As you can see from the image on the right (click/tap to enlarge), there are entries for every book of the Bible, as well as for the major sections of the Bible, including the traditional divisions of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh).
This can, of course, be added to; but we’ve done a lot of the work for you for most of the common ways someone might want to search the Bible text.
Most of our modules on the exchange are installed by simply double-clicking on the module once you have downloaded and unzipped it.
The search ranges are installed differently, though; and, of course, it’s different in macOS or Windows. The instructions (in brief) are on the Exchange, but I’ll run it through here as well.
In macOS open the User Library by clicking on the GO menu in the Finder while pressing option, and selecting Library. Open the Preferences folder and then the Accordance Preferences folder.
On a Windows computer, open your File Explorer and navigate to C:UsersyourusernameAppDataLocalAccordanceAccordance Preferences.
You’ll see the Search Ranges file there. Rename this file and then add the Search Ranges file from the Exchange to the folder. Next time you start Accordance, check the Range search criteria and there will be your ranges!
