Complete Word Study Dictionaries Although traditionally very popular among pastors, students, and laymen, The Complete Word Study Dictionary for Old and New Testaments from AMG Publishers was actually designed to be used by all readers of the Bible, including those who have studied the original languages. As stated by Spiros Zodhiates in the preface to the New Testament volume, “The greatest benefit of this dictionary will undoubtedly be realized by the person who has taken the time and exercised the discipline and diligence to study the Greek grammar and language of the New Testament.”

Available together in two separate modules, The Complete Word Study Dictionary for Old and New Testaments is now available for the Accordance Library. Designed to make the original languages of the Bible accessible to all, this work provides insights to a deeper understanding of Hebrew and Greek.

These dictionaries offer definitions and explanations for most words contained within the scriptures. A number from Strong’s Dictionary identifies each entry so that readers can make great use of the information given about each word, whether or not they have no working knowledge of Hebrew or Greek.

The New Testament volume has three main sections.  The first is a Translational Reference Index that lists most English words in the King James Version of the Bible, followed by hyperlinked entries for Strong’s numbers and significant Scripture references where the word occurs. The second section is a dictionary that functions as any standard Greek Lexicon. Entries are arranged alphabetically, and each listing contains the word in both Greek text as well as an English transliteration of the word. The entry includes a description of how the word is used in various contexts in the New Testament as well as the Septuagint. The third major section is actually a separate volume in the print editions. It is the The Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament Scripture Reference Index. This section contains an index of every Scripture reference mentioned in the New Testament Dictionary, arranged by verse reference and hyperlinked by Strong’s Number to the main New Testament dictionary.

The Old Testament volume has two primary sections. The Dictionary section functions as a basic Hebrew lexicon with a description accompanying every entry for how a Hebrew word is used in the context of a passage. The second section is a Concordance, also listed by Hebrew word entry with significant hyperlinked verse references following. The Old Testament volume also makes regular comparison of how Hebrew words are translated in the KJV, NIV, and NASB.
