This version of the Ge’ez (Ethiopic) Bible includes Genesis-Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel, and Psalms. It is based on Ran HaCohen’s digitization of Biblia Veteris Testament Aethiopica, edited by Augustus Dilllmann, et. al. Plans are, with the cooperation of the Textual History of the Ethiopic Old Testament (THEOT) Project, to eventually be able to offer a complete Old Testament, as well as the additional books in Ethiopia’s larger canon.
According to Rochus Zuurmond (“Versions, Ancient. Ethiopic Versions,” AB), the Ethiopic Bible consists of a rather literal translation of the LXX made between the 4th and the 6th centuries A.D. The translations often included works commonly considered pseudepigraphic. In addition, translations of other pseudepigraphic works from Arabic were incorporated into this expanded canon sometime between the 14th and 16th centuries, along with several post-apostolic books. The whole is an important witness to the historic evolution of the biblical text within a community of Semitic Christians.
2/25/16 Update: The 1.1 update adds Psalms.
