Visualize the sweep of history with the Accordance Timeline Expanded Edition. Much more than just dates on a timeline, the new expanded Timeline presents a colorful tapestry of the rise and fall of civilizations, the spread of world religions, and the wider context of biblical history.

With more than 3,000 historical periods, people, and events charted across 13 major geographical regions, you can see what was happening in each part of the world at any given time.

An expansion of the original Accordance Timeline, the new Timeline Tapestry adds

  • more than 2,000 new items
  • descriptions of every item
  • a new Religious Leaders item category
  • 5 new regions (Africa, Arabia, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and World)
  • 1,500 additional years of history (from the fall of Rome to the present day)
  • Church history (Catholic, Orthodox, Celtic, Nestorian, Protestant)
  • Jewish history (rabbis, writings, movements, and persecutions)
  • Islamic history (caliphates, scholars, writings, and warfare)
  • major manuscripts and Bible translations
  • James Ussher’s chronology of the Antediluvian Period
  • Accordance history!

In addition to all this new information, Accordance 13.1.2 now supports amplifying to the Timeline from a Scripture reference. You can even access timeline items from the Info Pane.

I like it. I think that it is a big improvement over the previous version of Timeline. I haven't tried using custom data yet, but the additions to the old timeline are welcome. I am teaching Genesis so the addition of Usher's antediluvians is a nice feature. Also, it is nice to have post-biblical dates, the Reformation era and so forth. I'd like to see a timeline of philosophers from Thales to the present time. Some of the philosophers are there, but many are missing - but then, with a timeline, somebody will always want more. But I am very happy with what I have. If you are wondering if it is worth the money, in my opinion it is.

Great New Features!!! NOT READY for power users.
This new timeline is a much better tool than the previous one in many ways. If you use the timeline for simply looking up dates and relationships then this is for you. Buy it without hesitation.

However, if you are a power user and you add date to the timeline like I do then you might want to hold off a bit. All my previous data I added to the previous timeline version disappeared on the upgrade. Also since I thought that might happen I saved screenshots because there is no way to export custom data. This is a feature I asked for years ago and guess what...you still cannot export or import custom data. It also is not really ready for custom data. I spent several hours today re-entering custom data and in the old timeline it shows up neatly stacked in areas where times overlap each other. But in this new version they all show up right on top of each other where they overlap. Which makes time visualization of custom data useless. Also ...

But in this new version they all show up right on top of each other where they overlap. Which makes time visualization of custom data useless. Also they still have not solved the problem of how they define time and the timeline. There is no Adam in the Ushers chronology until you search for him and then he shows up. The reason he does not show up right away is because they arbitrarily cut off time at 4000 BC. This creates a problem for Adam because he plots out to being created just prior to 4000BC.

The other problem is a wildly liberal view of history. I would guess that most users are conservative Christians (Generally liberal christians don't care a great deal about the inspiration of the word and so I am guessing this based on what their bias would be.) The timeline has the great pyramid being built before the world wide flood. This is a glaring liberal bias in their layout of the timeline.

I hope that they will relook at some of these things and fix the problems with the custom data entry. And for crying out loud, it seems like it is time to have custom data import and export from the timeline. Is it really that hard to get done???

I almost wish I could go back to the old timeline with all of my data and the ability to see it.
