OT Library Commentary: 1-2 Chronicles (Sara Japhet)
Requires Accordance 10.4 or above.
For even more information, see this article.
Because of the size and scope of 1-2 Chronicles, this commentary focuses on two main issues. According to the author, “However, attention has mainly been directed to two other areas, which are the heart of the book: the literary aspect, where my goal was to shed light upon thee book as a historical composition and upon the methods and means chosen by the author to convey his ideas; and that of theology, where I meant to illuminate the author’s goals, the comprehensive structure of his spiritual world as reflected in the book, and his message. Because of limitation of time and space I could not devote all due attention to the history of exegesis and research. What I omitted is worthy of inclusion, though this was not possible.” This commentary is written in technical format and employs Hebrew and Greek (LXX) throughout the entire work.
About the Old Testament Library Series:
The Old Testament Library is one of the most respected commentary series produced in the last 50 years. As with any series that reaches this level of respectability, it is comprehensive in scope while acknowledging that it is not exhaustive. Introductory matters cover historical concerns, cultural issues, the reception of the text, the integrity of the text, and other interpretive issues.
Each commentary provides a verse-by-verse analysis of critical exegetical matters that are then synthesized into a progressively building understanding of the text and interpretation. This includes analysis of problems in history, word meaning, syntactical and grammatical issues, text history, and many other exegetically relevant issues. Nevertheless, despite the breadth of their scope, volumes in the series remain relatively compact in comparison to series who share its aims and scope.
